So, What is Boudoir and Why Should You Book a Session? – Colorado Boudoir Photographer

Boudoir is a style of photography that captures intimate and sensual images of a person, often women, in a bedroom or dressing room setting. It’s a unique and beautiful way to capture the essence of a person, showcasing their natural beauty, confidence, and vulnerability. The name “Boudoir Session” comes from the word “boudoir” which means “a woman’s dressing room, bedroom, or private sitting room”.

Boudoir photography has been gaining popularity in recent years, as more and more women are embracing their bodies and seeking to capture their sensuality and femininity in a tasteful and artistic way. Whether it’s for personal empowerment or as a gift for a loved one, boudoir photography is a beautiful way to celebrate oneself. Let’s be clear here:

Boudoir photography is not porn and it’s not sex work.

For years, women have been seen as sexual objects but shamed if they try to take that sexuality for themselves. A boudoir session is a way to celebrate a woman’s sexuality in an empowering way, and it allows her to explore it for herself, not anyone else.

One of the most important aspects of boudoir photography is the relationship between the photographer and the subject. It’s crucial for us photographers to create a safe and comfortable environment for you, the subject, to express yourself and feel confident. I offer pre-shoot consultations to discuss your preferences and ideas, as well as to offer guidance on posing and wardrobe choices. This allows us to get to know each other and feel more comfortable for your upcoming session!

When it comes to wardrobe choices, there are no hard and fast rules for your boudoir session. Some ladies opt for lingerie or underwear, while others may choose a dress or a shirt that makes them feel beautiful and confident. The important thing is that you feel comfortable and confident in your choice of clothing. For where to buy lingerie, I recommend:

AdoreMe

Victoria’s Secret

Honey Birdette

Savage X Fenty

and even your local lingerie/adult store!

During the shoot, I will guide you through a variety of poses, expressions, and moods. The goal is to capture a range of images that showcase your unique beauty and personality. I use natural light to create soft, romantic images. You do NOT need to be a model to do a boudoir session! Repeat after me: all bodies are boudoir bodies! I have done two boudoir sessions of my own and I guarantee you that I’m not a model either!

Boudoir photography is not just about capturing beautiful images. It’s also about empowering women and helping them to feel confident and beautiful in their own skin. It’s a celebration of femininity and sensuality, and a way to showcase the beauty that exists within us all. It is a unique and beautiful way to capture the essence of a person. And I aim to celebrate every woman’s natural beauty and sensuality. With the right photographer and a comfortable environment, it can be a transformative and empowering experience for women of all ages and body types.

And when you’re ready to book your very own boudoir session, reach out to me and let’s chat! The results will be stunning, and you’ll have a beautiful set of images that you can cherish for years to come.
